History

In 1937, William J. ("Bill") Coffelt opened the gates of his Glendale Welding and Blacksmith Shop.  The shop specialized in repair of farm machinery and blacksmithing.  The nearby farms brought in lots of business and Coffelt met their needs.

In 1946, Bill passed away and the shop was sold to Pat Taylor.  Pat continued working on farm equipment, but he also did an occasional fuel tank on a stand and even the larger galvanized water storage tanks for the farmers.

Pat's reign lasted until 1969 when he sold the business to Ed Carlson, an experienced engineer and metallurgist.  Ed shifted the focus from farm repair (as many of the farms were being bought up for housing developments) to tanks.  All types of tanks.

Throughout the seventies and eighties, Glendale Welding gained a great reputation throughout the Southwest United States for the quality work contained in every tank.  By then, the product list had expanded to water trucks, vacuum trucks, stainless steel tanks, rectangular oil tanks and DOT Legal cargo tanks.

In 1986, Ed retired and sold the business to his two sons, Regan and Bob Carlson.  Together, the brothers continued tank manufacturing and even brought in the ASME Code for Unfired Pressure Vessels.  Regan led the way in developing and creating the state-of-the-art in vacuum systems and trucks.

Bob took over sole ownership of Glendale Welding in 1996.  Since then, Bob has managed the shop with the help of his general manager, Jerry Kirkpatrick.  Bob still seeks to make a better tank, a more efficient vacuum or water truck and to give the customer full say in concept and design.

The history of Glendale Welding is a proud one.  The men who have worked here over the years always worked to make the best-possible products for the marketplace.  That ethic continues today and nothing reflects that truth better than just looking at a Glendale Welding Co. product.
